Danny,"In Jesus's Name!"

Written by Dr. Pat

Jack would visit a poor doctor once a year because it is a full time ministry to MBB’s. At one of his visits, there was another man there about Jack’s age when he arrived at the doctor’s house, but this man, Danny, spoke very slowly. He was almost blind and very pale. The doctor said that this man was a Muslim and is now a Christian.

Jack sent the doctor to get some food and then listened to Danny’s halting tale. Danny said that his family is from a large Middle Eastern city and is very wealthy. “Danny” a former Muslim, chose to become a Christian. His rich uncle found out that he had converted to Christianity. When the uncle confronted him, Danny said that he would not deny that he believes in Jesus Christ. The uncle was enraged and used his wealth to command an officer of the local police department to arrest Danny and put him into prison.

At the prison, Danny was put into a room with water on the floor that covered his ankles. There was no toilet so Danny had to stand in contaminated water. The police threw bread into the water so Danny would have to eat tainted food. As expected he grew ill, and when he was at the point of death, the authorities would care for his medical needs so they could start the cycle of torture over again. Then they would interrogate Danny to force him to deny Jesus and to inform them about the activities of other Christians. When he resisted, they hung him by his wrists and applied electric shocks to his head. It was terribly painful.

One day as the officer came to torture him with the electric shocks, Danny cried out in a loud voice, “In Jesus’ name!” The officer’s face immediately changed and evil spirits came out of him, as if he was awakening from a dream.

The officer exclaimed, “What am I doing?” and he set Danny free. He also said that he was sorry that he hurt Danny and “even though your uncle paid me to do it, I cannot kill an innocent person.”

The officer was ultimately punished for helping Danny by being sent to a remote place away from his family.

Danny could not remember much of what happened. The electric shocks caused brain damage. As a devout Muslim, he had memorized the entire Koran, but he could not remember any of it. He said that he was pleased that he “can’t remember the bad verses” that were so much a part of his life before he committed his life to Jesus Christ.

Please pray for Danny and others in his situation, for healing and the comfort that only Christ can deliver.
